Hello. My name is Deran and I’m the administrator of this facility. I grew up a Tigers fan in Michigan and moved down here to Lakeland in ‘03. I’ve been following the baseball happenings of TigerTown since I moved here and I’m happy to now share my thoughts and observations with you! You can also find me on motownsports.com under the username “Yoda”.

I am John, or known to many Tiger fans as “TheCouga” on motownsports.com. I moved down to Lakeland in January for an awesome job, and will be here for a while hopefully. I have played and watched baseball for almost my entire life. I am 27, originally from Milwaukee, but recently from Chicago, and I have been a Tigers fan all my life. Although I like the Brewers a lot (they are my NL team), I was fond of the Tigers’ blue collar, determined style of play when I was growing up. Kirk Gibson exemplified the heart and the attitude that the Tigers showed, and as a kid from the hardworking Midwest, I was wowed.
I plan to add here and there to this blog, and go to as many LFT and GCL games as possible during the season. Although I am not a professional scout, I hope to give readers around the country a better look at some of the players in the low minors that you don’t really get a chance to see. I plan to profile some of the higher ceiling players in both leagues, and provide pictures and hopefully even video clips of their play.
I’m open to all kinds of ideas for content on this blog. I (and Deran and Kyle do as well) want to welcome reader feedback on what to provide. I was thinking about having a reader poll each month to determine one or two players that you want to see profiled on here. Maybe one pitcher and one position player each month. Or once the GCL season starts, we could do an additional player per month from the GCL Tigers.
But I’m open to suggestions on this. Brainstorm, and don’t be afraid to suggest something totally out of line or crazy (or maybe I shouldn’t have said that, knowing some of you). We won’t be able to grant unreasonable requests, but I promise we will listen to them and at least have a good laugh over them. But we do want to hear your suggestions on what kind of activities and content to provide on here.
Thanks!
