4-03-08: LFT @ Tampa Yankees
By Deran | April 3, 2008
Tonight, 7 p.m.
Legends Field, Tampa, FL
Kyle, John and I will all be in attendance. I plan to take some pictures of LFT’s starting pitcher Rick Porcello in action and a description of his performance, as well as the rest of the team.
I will post an update to this post later this evening.
*****UPDATE*****
Box Score
Rick Porcello and the Flying Tigers performed as advertised Thursday night. Rick threw 5 innings of one-hit ball as the FT’s won their season opener 4-1 versus the Tampa Yankees.
Porcello recorded his first win as he threw 5 innings, surrendering 0 runs, 1 hit, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts, which included a groundball to flyball ratio of 9 to 3, with 4 of those ground balls not getting past the pitcher’s mound. Tampa hitters were no match for his sinker.
In relief, Castro, Benitez, and Dolsi held the Yankees to just 1 run over 4 innings of work. The lone run came on a hit and 2 walks surrendered by Dolsi in the 9th.
On the offensive side of the ball, Brennan Boesch led the way with a 2-run double in the 6th inning. Cale Iorge added an RBI triple to the gap in left-center, Santo De Leon had a double and was one of two Flying Tigers (Skelton) to have two hits on the night. Strieby (RBI), Ott, and Laster also contributed a hit a piece.

Great pics from the game Deran, hoping the rains hold off this weekend to see some baseball. Looks like we can be in for a good year this year.

Now, the question on the photo of Iorg’s triple… when you took the photo, were you hoping for a shot like that, or was it one of those “dumb luck” type moments?
