Porcello pitching today
By Deran | March 11, 2008
Probable Lakeland Flying Tiger pitcher Rick Porcello is once again pitching for the big club today, as the Detroit Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians in a split-squad game in Winter Haven. This will be a good test because, since Cleveland is home, they’re likely to have the majority of their starters in the game. I expect his spring ERA of 2.45 to take a bit of a jump today.
And those of you with an mlb.tv subscription can watch the game.

****UPDATE****
Rick’s first inning is in the books. 3 weak ground balls off the bats of David Dellucci, Casey Blake and Victor Martinez.
Rick’s day is now done. 2.0 Innings, 0 hits, 1 k.
For the spring, he has pitched 5.2 innings, 1.59 ERA, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2K . Pretty solid for a kid that was in High School this time last year.
