Special Olympics, Fan Club Meeting, etc.

By Deran | February 11, 2008

Flying Tigers intern Brittany Hammerberg reports the following over at motownsports.com:

“We had such a great day Saturday! You guys have no idea how much the Detroit Tiger Foundation of Florida helped the Special Olympics. We (especially Ron) funded the shirts, the entertainment (Darla singing the national anthem and the interns as mascots), our kitchen staff fed all the athletes, our concessions provided food, and our dear players took time out of their day off to pass out the ribbons. Our players were so great with the kids and the kids were so happy to see them there. You all should be proud to be Tigers fans!”

I just want to personally thank the Flying Tigers staff for the great job they’re doing for the team, fans, and everyone else living in the area. They really put in a lot of hours and do a fantastic job.

Also, there is a Flying Tigers Fan Club meeting on Wednesday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held on the new “Flight Deck” at the top of section 209 in Marchant Stadium! Should be a good time, as always.

Nothing new to report on the Spring Training front. Pretty much everyone took the weekend off to spend time with friends and family before the official start of Spring Training. As Kyle reported, Zach Miner and Justing Verlander were at the park Saturday, and on Sunday Curtis Granderson and Miner were present. Things will quickly (extreme understatement) pick up this week though. Plenty of pictures to come, including a much-anticipated look at Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera in Tigers uniforms!
