Rodney Hurt

By Deran | February 21, 2008

Tigers’ relief pitcher Fernando Rodney is experiencing pain in his throwing shoulder, the same pain he felt last year when he went on the DL. The Detroit Free Press has more on this.

This could be very big. He will be a huge boost to an already depleted bullpen (Zumaya is out until July) if he’s able to stay healthy. If the Tigers loose him too, then they’ll be counting on a few unproven guys to fill in, like Francisco Crucetta, who I am a fan of. But you don’t want to be in that position. Hopefully this is just temporary and not long-term.

UPDATE: Fernando Rodney says “it’s nothing bad” after throwing this morning. I’m going to be concerned until he throws in a game with no soreness, but it sounds like he’ll be OK. And if so, good news.
